ETA (because some of the responses seem to not be understanding how I got to this point). Yes, I've read all 7 books. I have a 10 year old sister and make a point of reading these books with and for her.
Also, not deliberately looking for trouble. I neither attacked the readers or the commercialism, just the actual literary theory and rhetorics.
I'm merely looking for responses in which someone can provide constructive critical responses (which means both positive and negative reviews).

If you didn't like Harry Potter, try these instead:
http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com
Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, and a short review of each book.
I hope this helps.

(I'm inclined to think that anyone who deliberately posts to say they don't like HP is looking for trouble.)
-Editors are afraid to change anything in the books because they're so freakin popular. -Lack of original metaphor and symbolism? Who cares? She uses classic techniques to draw the reader in, and it works. -And though the plot does follow a familiar path, what makes it interesting are the characters and quirky details she includes.
I started reading these books when I was about 11. I didn't know then how huge they would become. All I knew was that I adored Harry, and it deserves all the success it's got.

I am not a crowd follower of any kind. I like being an individual so if the crowd is going in a certian direction I go the opposite. Crowds seem to hide what is ahead and if it were a pit that was ahead I don't want to fall into it by the time I got to the front and found that the crowd behind me were pressing me forward to see what all the crowd ahead of them was moving toward.

i'm hoping that you ahve at least tried to read one or more of the books before you say you don't like them... cuase i know a lot of people don't like them becuase they have to do with witches and stuff... you can't say to don't like something unless you've tried it before... cause you don't really know what it is about...
If you have read them or tried to then oh well... everyone is entitled to their own opinions...

The sole thing that couldn't sink in my mind was that all the hot stuff happened in spring or early summer. It's ridiculous. Plus that i believe that her writing style is too commercial.

There are people who don't like Harry Potter, but they're the minority.
I'm not one of them, and I'm proud.
Go, Harry Potter!!
