This is normal for a newborn, nothing to worry about at all. Her tummy is very small but will grown quickly> She shouldhave 6-8 wet diapers a day at this age. In just a few weeks you will notice a difference!!When is your first doctor's visit? If you want to make sure call your doctor about it, or you can schedule a weight check visit after the first week.

I would call the pediatrician just to be sure. The rule of thumb (though all babies are different) is 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours. Some babies eat more, some less. As long as she is wetting her diaper and stooling okay, I would not be worried. You should be set up to take her in for her one week check up Monday or Tuesday, no? There they will weigh her. She will have lost some weight in the hospital (totally normal) but by 2 weeks they like to see them back to birth weight or more. If she is not, they will recommend feeding ideas. The main thing is gaining weight. I would try to feed her every time she is awake. Hang in there and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

When our son was born he only ate 1/2-1oz at each feeding(2-3 hrs apart)
he's 15 weeks old now and eats 7-8 oz per feeding...so i would say your daughter is right on track.
just dont forget to change nipple sizes in a couple of months(if your using a bottle)

While learning to breastfeed in the hospital, I was formula feeding. My son would only take about an ounce at a time and the nurses pesterd me to give him more. He just did not want any more than that.
The best way you can check for yourself is to count wet diapers. If you daughter is wetting at least 6 diapers a day, has soft stools and seems pretty happy between feedings, she is getting enough. Good luck!

Congrats on the child! an conventional feeding trend for a newborn is 100ml each and every 4 hours (6bottles an afternoon) If she wakes up till now than she is due it is possibly using fact she is hungry, theres no injury in feeding her slightly early. stable success.

That sounds normal - they're stomachs are so small in the beginning; don't worry she'll start eating more very soon.
The link below is for a website for breastfeeding mom's but if you scroll down it shows an infants maximum stomach capacity for the first few weeks, that'll give you an idea of how much your baby can eat. Congrats!

I would suggest you watch her for the rest of the week and if she does not increase her feeding, you should see your doctor. Are you breastfeeding? She might be more interested in ur milk. Also do not be tensed up as it might affect her if the environment is not calm.
I had the same situation and we eventually found out our baby has reflux. We waited too long to find!
Remember that sometimes, it is normal for babies to eat very little in their 1st couple of days but this should change by a week.
Good luck

1/2 oz to 1oz is fine...it may or may not increase the first week, but as weeks go by you'll find that it will. Your doctor should have asked about seeing you the first week of life and then @ 4 weeks and so on. So they will be checking the baby's weight as well.

a newborns stomach is the size of a marble. DONT force any more food down her throat! .5 - 1 oz every 2 - 3 hours is PLENTY for a baby this age. She will get bigger and she will eat more, but for right now, this amount is just right for her!

My daughter was told by her nurses to feed her baby about every 2 hours. I don't know how much he was getting, as she breast fed him. He's 2 wks; she now supplements with formula, he drinks about 2 oz or so...should you have any questions/concerns, please call the doctor, as they will be happy to answer you. I am sure your baby is fine, and the doctor will understand that you are a new parent...good luck and enjoy your new baby!
