It's funny that they avoided your question completely. They buy into the B.S that Reagan ended the cold war, when in fact he did nothing of the sort. Gorbechev ended it by reforming the Soviet Union and opening it up. If they knew anything about Soviet Union leadership and history of the government from the 1950's through the 1990's, then they would realize that it was inevitable from the time of Kruschev, who Gorbechev studied under. The Soviet Union government was in trouble from the time of Breshnev, and then experienced alot of problems with leadership between Breshnev and Gorbechev. They were also having economic problems from the time of Breshnev thru Gorbechev as well. Like I said, Reagan had absolutely nothing to do with it like the GOP propaganda speak would like to have people believe. The cons also forget about this forgotten thing called IranContragate with Reagan.

"Conservative wingnuts?" Good one.

I see the same answers repeated quite often from both sides of the isle. Different philosophies and a different take on most, but repeated none the less.
It seems to be true that if something is repeated often enough, it simply becomes an obvious fact that apparently doesn't need a source any longer.
Some of your examples are excellent - I suspect Canada survives because it simply doesn't border on any hostile countries to the south and, lets face it, there's really no threat to the north of Canada. It could be argued that Jimmy Carter's policies of diplomacy were seen as a weakness, and therefore exploited by the militants in Iran. It might also be argued that Reagan was a major player in the bankrupting of the Soviet Union - if I remember correctly, he spent some 60 billion dollars chasing a missile deterrent system that was pretty much a facade. America certainly was a major factor in the defeat of the Nazis - more of a multi-country team effort, I suspect, rather than "America won WWII."
Most of your examples are not "provable" in the since that they are more or less opinions or conclusions - so even if the valid and verifiable facts are presented, two people could easily come to two different conclusions.
Isn't that what makes politics so intriguing?

1. Let's see, if America was a wasteland Canada would survive but not thrive. If Canada was a wasteland.. wait.. it already is.
2. America does not protect Canada... we do however protect the Canadian Navy.
3. Jimmy wasn't responsible for fundamentalism and no Conservative believes that (except for wingnuts). He wasn't responsible for the hostage crisis but he certainly mishandled it by negotiating (note how they were released the day before Reagan's inaugeration) and the Democrat controlled Congress helped Jimmy put America into a tailspin.
4. Reagan was not responsible for the fall of Communism. He was responsible for the fall of the Soviet Union.
5. America didn't win it on it's own. America was largely responsible for the victory. Having Montgomery lead the tank charge was a political decision by Eisenhauer. And what vast foreign Navy fought the Pacific war? Brits, Canadians, Aussies, and Filipinos all fought bravely alongside the Americans but remember, the overall commander on both fronts was American.
6. Even the New York Times & CNN have been reporting positive stories on the surge. Of course, you must be hoping for failure in Iraq since you're claing it's not working even before the report is out.

I've never claimed 1, 2 or 3.

3 - Jimmy Carter's response to Irani fundamentalism was abysmal.

4 - Reagan sure didn't discourage dismantling the Soviet Bloc. Why would the Poles erect a statue of him?

5 (the WWII one) - certainly our entry into the war was pivotal, over time. We didn't lose did we? We and our allies won, remember?

5 (the Iraq war) - Surge already passed. Guess the sectarian violence will continue.

Canada certainly benefits from trade with the U.S. Canada is the #1 importer of oil to the U.S. Most Libs don't know that. Canada certainly benefits from our strong military. No one is going to invade Canada. Jimmy Carter was not responsible for the Iranian psychos, but he certainly handled the crisis poorly. Is it just a coincidence that the Iranians were quick to end the hostage crisis when they knew Reagan was going to be the next president? You're correct, not all the economic stuff was Carter's fault. Ford and Nixon made huge mistakes. However, Carter WAS inept at finding a solution. Ronald Reagan certainly didn't cause the collapse of the Soviet Union but he's credited by most historians for pushing them over the edge by increasing our military strength, SDI, and refusing to cave in to their SALT treaty demands. I'm in contact with soldiers who say the Surge is working. This past week, even the New York Times had to break down and admit to that.

Instead of pulling dopey questions out of your b*tt can you back up any rebuttals to the answers that you have been given? I have learned that when a liberal pulls anything out of their b*tt, it is all
SH*T

By the way, I could care less about Canada, or Mexico, I don't live in either place, I care about the US.

You made a statement that alot of what Jimmy "crackcorn" Carter had was inherited from Ford, please back that UP!!!

Can you backup anything that you say, hell no you can't you are a freaking crybaby liberal.

What amazes me is that you would think that people have time to write a thesis on this forum. Much of what you see is opinion. I am happy to give you some of the varied sources I use to educate myself so that I can form my opinions. These in NY Times, WSJ, Fox News, CNN, local news, Drudge Report, BBC worldwide, Bloomburg, Rolling Stones, New Yorker as well as listening to people who have differing opinions from my own.

I do not pull answers or questions out of my tush as you so tolerantly put it, I think and then I type.

Let me ask you this, what are you so angry about? Why are you so very concerned about the opinions of "wingnuts"?

Really now, and just who won WWII??? And about Carter; check out the links below. Its not propaganda or even about Carter, however they provide statistical information on inflation and unemployment. Pay attention to the data and the time frames. Also, you tell me what President did as much as Regan to combat communism. Carter certainly didn't have a lot to say. And by the way, his oil-for-food and other hug-a-thug programs which gave aid to the middle east - do some research for yourself and see if you can account for where all of that money went. The names and locations associated with it will astound you.

Pull yourself away from CNN for just 20 minutes a day and watch the history channel or read some scholarly journals online and be educated instead of buying into whatever the slanted media feeds you.

WCSteel, libsticker, and smellyfoot™: The U.S.A. had a little help in winning World War II from Britain, Commonwealth Countries like Canada and Australia, the Soviet Union (20 million casualties), and others. You're actually a living example of what Sheila L is trying to prove.

"tear this wall down"! the famous words of man who feared not even the Russian leader Gorbachev though early signs of dementia might have set in, never the less Reagan was the strongest and most effective in getting not long after the berlin wall teared down.
Carter is credited for not getting the hostages out more then giving amnesty to a terrorist that Iran wanted to kill, he made a choice. The terrorist was saved. The surge is slowly making progress that's all she wrote.
