I'm a HUGE Cleveland Indians fan and i'm excited that they are in the chase for the playoffs but i'm also realistic and know they tend to be a disappointment in the last couple of months. Do you think they have what it takes to make the playoffs this year?

I know more about the Indians than anyone else on here so take it from me. Record wise they have not fallen apart for the finaly months of the season although it may seem that way. In 04 and 05 they fell apart in late september.

They certinley have what it takes to make the playoffs. Sabathia, Carmona and Byrd(yes Byrd) have carried the Indians pitching staff this year. The other two spots have not preformed well at all. Lee, Sowers, Westbrook have all struggled htis year. Lee and Sowers are now in AAA. Westbrook seems to have turned it around lately. In his last two starts he has pitched 13 innings allowing 8 hits, 4 walks, and 2 runs. If he keeps going in the right direction and Aaron Laffey is adaquete the rotation will be very strong. Laffey will make his MLB debut tommarow.

Hitting wise they have been good most of the year. They went through a recent funk but have turned it around since. Nixon has been a huge dissapointment so they went out and got Lofton. Even at age 40 he is batting .305 with 21 SB. Jason Michaels isn't good against righties but stellar against lefties so he will platoon with Lofton. I'm thinking Nixon might be realeased when Dellucci comes back. One of them will be put on waivers or sent to AAA. Dellucci has had some clutch hits but he's only batting .234. The rest of the offense has been as expected except Garko and Hafner. Garko has shown power and hit for average. Hafner has struggled but I think he will turn it around.

The bullpen is the thinnest part. Our bullpen is in better shape than Detroit's but there aren't many reliable arms in there. Fultz just came back from the DL. He had done a nice job of being a lefty specialiest before he got injured. Rafael Perez has been a pleasent surprise. Betancourt has been absolutley incerdible. Lights out. Borowski has been soild. Makes it interesting but gets the job done. Take away 2 of his appearences his ERA goes down around 2.90. And wheter you like him or not we wouldn't be in the race if it weren't for him. Remember when there was no closer last year?Someone else will need to step up whether it's Lewis, Mastny, Mujica or Miller(he should be up here).

All in all their chances of making the playoffs are very good. They are only 1/2 out of first. If they can't take it from Detroit there is always the Wild Card. I am not all that worried about the Yankees. They are going through an easy part of the season now but they have a very hard part coming up. Go Tribe!!!

They have a good shot at it but the Yankees are going to win the wild card.

They have really pulled it together and look to be on track for the playoffs.

But the A.L. Central is not out of reach for the Indians.

So I give the Indians a 50/50 chance of making the playoffs.

the Cleveland Indians are really good. They'll most likely make it. In the American League, either you win a monstrous amount of wins or you win like 50 or 60 by the end of the season. The Indians have already won like 61 games. They'll go to the playoffs but they won't make it even close to the World Series.

LOL the Twins & Tigers!!! Sorry those communities mwon't even make the playoffs, there are in easy words approximately 23 video games of the season left and the Indians have a great lead of their branch. If the season have been to end interior the present, they had be dealing with the purple Sox and that i think of of suitable now the Sox are in easy words an better team, despite if the Indians have a great team interior the advent destiny, as they have plenty of their gamers locked up. I see the Angels popping out of the AL & my suprise team the Padres popping out of the NL.

The Indians and Tigers will both make the playoffs. It will go down to the last game of the year.

Sorry. But, the yankees are going to catch them for the wild card and the only way your going to make the playoffs is to beat out Detroit for the division. I just think Detroit has the better starting pitching which will win out in the end. Least your a realistic fan. Better luck next year.

Go Browns?

I also ♥ the Indians i think they have a good chance of making the playoffs as long as the pitching keeps consistent

I'd say the Indians chances of making the playoffs are excellent! I think they are going to have to catch Detroit (only 1/2 game back....no big deal) and they are going to NEED stellar pitching from Cliff Lee and Jake Westbrook if they are going win the AL Central. Detroit's team is too powerful. I don't think they will win the Wild Card. I think (gasp) the Yankees will win that....unfortunately. So, to answer your question...their odds of making it to the "show" are pretty good.
