For me, hearing little tidbits of the ending didn't really ruin the book, as there was a lot going on and an adventure to get through before they could reach that conclusion. It's like when you read a book for the second or third time--you know the ending but you enjoy the book all over again anyway.

I agree with you. But the whole world is in potter mania frenzy. So its just a matter of who reads fast...And then start discussing what happened and what not.
It will be getting to you through your friends, email, internet, news, etc.
So the best bet is...If you wanna enjoy the book without getting tipped off on whats going to happen. Then just buy the book as soon as you can. Cut off yourself from Internet, News, media, phone, etc. And finish it. And then I assure you...You will be as eager to talk about what you read. The same way others are doing now.

Some people can be very insensitive to children. Especially other children. We all know what it was like to be a child. The bottomline is: a) read it as soon as it comes out. or b) dont mention you havent read it yet as that will only encourage people to tell you.
I had the book read 8hrs and 20 mins after it came out and had to wait for 4 days till my m8 had finished it to talk about it.
I NEVER SPOILED IT FOR HER
You get a lot of quezzis on answers about it and the only way to avoid disappointment is not to read the quezzis in the 1st place.
I have enjoyed talking about in on answers with others who have finished the book, and you get smart alec answers from folks who havent started it or finished it saying we spoil it for them, thats all well and good but like I said dont click on the quezzi till you are ready to answer it.

I agree. I read the book very quickly and have been frustrated by waiting for my friends to complete it. However, I kept quite and only talked about the book once they had finished it!

I used to go to incredible measures at work on a Saturday to avoid being told the scores so I could have a real treat when I watched match of the day ...some mean spirited so and so always managed to drop them on me just before I got home ...incredibly annoying!!

I'm 110% with you. There probably won't be another book craze like this for years, and it's the LAST book. To tell someone what happens when they don't want to know is just plain cruel. It's not funny and it isn't clever. Thanks for putting that I completely agree.

Yes, it's bad to see spoilers. A couple days before the book came out, someone commented on YouTube with a list of who dies on what page. I read it. :-( I forgot most of it though, and didn't really think it was true.

I am with you 100%. It is SUCH a cruel thing to do especially to a child. A comedian in Australia is facing discipline from his tv station over it . People are just mean spirited I guess...
