Everyone makes good points about stds, birth control and emotional factors...but there is another point: having sex really has a lot to do with how horney you are, how much you think about and want sex. I was 16 and I had been dying to have sex for years - 16 felt almost too old! But if you dont have such strong physical desire, you will need to have an emotional desire instead, and that kind of desire requires more maturity and probably comes at an older age...So part of the answer, maybe the biggest part, is how bad do you want to get laid?
p.s. If you are not really a horney person, and if you want emotional satisfaction, dont sleep with a guy who is more concerned with physical pleasure (like me to be honest!).

No one answer is going to give you the insight you need to know "when" to lose your virginity. Only you and the partner you decide to take that important step with will and can know that. Personally, I was 18. I don't regret it because I believe I picked the right person, mind, body and soul. To this day, he and I are the still extremely close friends, and have a lot of respect for each other, even though we are no longer sexually involved. You, your body and your heart will tell you "when". Not Yahoo! Answers.

I was 17 and not prepared...just lucky I didn't end up with serious regrets...
Here are some things to consider:
Sex not occur before:
1. You are ready to deal with a pregnancy, should it occur
2. You are ready to deal with an STD, should it occur
3. When you know how a woman can become pregnant (all the ways it can occur)
4. When you know what the various STDs are and how they are transmitted and how to help protect against them
5. When you are ready to insist your partner wear a condom (female) or insist that you wear one (male)
6. When you are on a reliable form of birth control and using it properly (female) or ensure that she is (male)
7. When you are ready to deal with any emotional issues that may come from being intimate with another person
Until you've got those things covered, you should not have sex.

I was 14 and regret every minute of it. All I have to say is don't rush yourself because you're not missing out on anything. You are doing well waiting. When I first started having sex I thought it was going to be worth a lot and I thought that everytime I did it I was going to enjoy it but it wasn't all that. Sex isn't the way people make it seem in my eyes.

Really if you have to ask such a question then you are to young. Your not close to being ready or you would already know that answer. When the time is right both parties will know and then it will happen, until then just keep on doing nothing but being friends.

I was 18 and I was with my high school sweetheart ! Although i don't regret it I wish i could have waited a little bit longer!!!
You shouldn't have sex until your really prepared to deal with everything that comes along with it ! There are so many STD's out there and the last thing you want is to end up with one of them !!! So befor anything happens be prepared and be careful with who you end up with !!!

I was 19, mostly because I wouldn't "take" hers.. she was 19 also. We had been going together for three years. So she found someone else to take it, and then invited me over to her apartment for a week. My only mistake was not taking enough condoms. We were both pretty inexperienced, but it is a nice memory. She was so tickled with herself for finally being a "woman" and not a girl.

It doesn't really matter what age other people decided to take that step. What does matter is that your ready. Cause its your life and you will just know when your ready. All I can advise it that its with someone special and in love.:) good luck
