What would happen in every US city if the police and army were disbanded?

Remember the civil disorder and looting in New Orleans after Katrina removed police intervention?

That is a massive generalisation. I am a Brit living in the states and I certainly do not like or support the war in Iraq.
But I have to disagree with your comment.
There are questions being asked about pulling out and weather or nor the Iraq security forces can hold a balance. It was hoped by all, Iraqi's and peacekeeping forces that this would have happened already, but it is questionable.
Slagg*ng off a country and it's people does not help in the slightest.

First, Americans are not to blame for the war. Second, the Iraqi people are not to blame for the mess Iraq is in. Most Iraqi's want peace, it is a minority that want to kill (for various reasons).

Iraqi's were proud to vote, and most want to keep democracy.

The UK, the USA and the UN are responsible for Iraq being the mess it is, as well as Russia, France and Germany. Mainly because we, in the west (as well as the Eastern Block) armed Iraq in the first place, and turned a blind eye when Saddam used chemical weapons on Iraqi's. If we had never supported the murdering dictator in the first place, the need to have the war would never have happened. If the UN had carried out its threats when Saddam had refused to obey it, we would never have had to invade either.

Remember as well, most Iraqi's across the world were calling for armed intervention to get rid of Saddam.

But it is not coallition troops that are planting car bombs and killing Iraqi's in suicide attacks. Those are nutters who claim to be muslim.

What we need to learn is never to support dictators again. Something we are still doing.

Blah Blah Blah Blah..........
If you saw the bigger picture and had an open mind, you wouldn't be spewing such nonsense.
If every city in the U.S. had it's police and military disbanded, we would all be carrying our guns with us everywhere, and militia's and gangs would take control over their areas.
Major cities would probably be in choas mode, while the rest of America would probably remain stable/normal and self govern themselves like how it's always been.
Many small towns only have 1 or 2 police officers working part-time anways.........self governing........what a great concept that seems to work with civil rural people.

It's pathetic.
I was watching a documentary on it a few days ago.
It's not the Iraqis fault. Iraq never threatened the USA, nor is it a threat. There's no nukes over there.
The people just want to left alone.
Personally, we ALL know what Iraq REALLY is for. Georgie wants his oil so he can make more money....

The citizens of any and every country are responsible for it's running and situation. If you let things happen in your country that you are dissatisfied with, don't stand up against it, and , if need be fight for it then you deserve what you get and or happens to you.
This goes for Iraq, North and South Korea,Russia, Canada and the U S. And every other country.
Maintaining our civilistic attitudes only cloaks our darker sides.

Well, then, the blame could all be placed on us Americans. And, yes, I remember the criminal behavior in New Orleans, and it was all by New Orleans people.

So, no, it's not pathetic at all - the blame rests squarely on the Iraqis.

It's like blaming Sharon Tate for the fact that the Manson Family's visit didn't go well.

So...all the car bombs, and suicide bombers, the death squads: Sunni AND Shiite, alike...who are THEY??

Sure, the invasion removed the dictatorial force that was holding that country together, allowing the chaos to erupt, but the Iraqis could have decided to take the removal of Saddam as an opportunity to have democracy and peace. Instead, they decided to settle old scores, and to grab for ultimate power instead of sharing it. Thus, the chaos. It is NOT the US's fault these people couldn't live together.
