If the child wasn't on the account they are obliged to call the credit card company and tell them the parent is dead (and they don't really even have to do that). Thats all.
The parents estate (leftover assets) if there is any will be obliged to pay the credit card (and this may reduce what the children receive in inheritance) if there is any estate.
However, if the children were not on the credit cards they do not have and obligation to pay these bills themselves, if the parents estate doesn't have money to cover the costs then the credit card must take on the loss.

Nothing. If you are asking if your children will incur your credit card debt when you die-they will not. They would have to be on the account. When you die your debt dies with you. Beware though that companies will try to trick you into thinking that you have to pay because you are a spouse/child of the deceased. That is illegal!

Whoever handles and settles the estate of the deceased will have to pay off their debts and then distribute the remaining assets according to the will.

if there is any assets house car etc that will have to be sold to take care of any debt -- but if there is not enough to handle all of the credit card debt it is just written off as a loss. you will be libel unless your name is on the card.

Debt will be handled in probate. All their assets will be liquified and all their debts will be paid with that money. Anything that's left will be TAXED (ugh! Can't even die without being taxed) and then paid to heirs.

if your name isn't on it you personally are not liable. But your parents estate is... if they had assets... house, car, money in the bank, the companies can go after that.
