It is likly that a Democrat could occupy the White House after the 08 election. All the power moves, executive signing orders, operating above and outside the law that Bush has used with impunity will be in the hands of the Democrats if they choose! If this was to happen, the Republicans would screaming bloody murder! and they should!

Do you now see the current problem? Its harfull to the nation both ways

Yes, the powers and imbalance would continue to grow and expand under each future administration.

That's why stopping it now -- hard -- is not a partisan issue, but a fundamental issue of constitutional integrity.

Huh? What? Look, the majority party which hates The President and attacks him at every opportunity would have immediately launched impeachment hearings back in January if Bush were indeed operating outside of the law. Some would argue that the Dems don't do it because they don't have the votes.

They actually don't do it because they don't have a leg to stand on. Take a look at the investigations so far. In the Libby case even the prosecutor said he wasn't sure any crime was committed so he prosecuted him for lying about a crime that probably didn't even happen.

They would jump on anything to get the President. Look at the forged National Guard document scandal.

The problem, Sir, is not the President. The problem is we have two political parties Republican and yes Democrat that believe the good of the party comes before the good of the nation.

it is problematical to assert. it is not any longer a undesirable suggestions-set for the GOP to flow after the unions when you consider that they donate heavily to the Democrats and depriving them of a few of their investment will help the GOP in 2012. however the polls do instruct that what befell in Wisconsin is frequently unpopular. in assessment to three months in the past, a lots larger share of Democrats in Wisconsin now say they're going to "incredibly vote" in the 2012 election. yet i've got no longer considered something conclusively proving that the union busting is firing up the Democrats everywhere exterior of Wisconsin nonetheless it ok might desire to. that's a toss up and could be exciting to observe. If I had to wager i could say this might finally end up helping the Democrats yet by utilising how lots i'm unsure.

I agree. It's asking a lot, to hope that future presidents will be so honest that not only will they NOT try to take even more executive powers than Bush already has, but that they'll actually make an effort to change the laws BACK to what they were ini the year 2000.

And yes, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Anything the Republicans okay right now, the Democrats will benefit from in the future, and vice versa.

Are you implying that Democrats with executive signing orders operating above and outside the law are dangerous? You may be onto something...

Who cares? the Democrats are in that position right now. Basically the Republicans would know how the Democrats have felt for the past 8 years.

What 'power grab'? Clinton did everything that you accuse Bush of doing and more. He even lied under oath and was suspended by the Bar because of it. Anyone who accused him of anything was subjected to PERSONAL attacks, not attacks on the charges. Remember the FBI kidnapping Elian Gonzales and sending him back to Cuba? Remember The sniper who killed a defenseless woman at Ruby Ridge? Remember the FBI setting fire to the Koresh complex in Texas? All on Clinton's watch!!!

'Could' backfire? It seems it already has. That's why many Republicans are trying to distance themselves from Bush
