My first thought when I read this story is WTF?
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/news/news.html?in_article_id=473005&in_page_id=1770
A lover of a man who had a 17 month old child tortured the baby in the hope the baby would be taken away so she could have the man to herself as she saw the baby as a nuisance.
"The child suffered a litany of fractures and bruises as his limbs were "twisted and pulled", he was burnt with a cigarette and even had his leg progressively sliced open until the wound was so deep tendons and veins were exposed."
"Many of his injuries were ignored for days, causing him to scream as his broken bones ground together."
"His many injuries included a broken thigh and shin and three fractured ribs. A doctor who examined him said he looked like a car accident victim"
"The pair, who each face up to 14 months jail, were both remanded in custody."
14 months???????? for not just killing a child, but TORTURING the child till he died!!

God I hope what they say about the prison system is true and I hope both the man and the woman in this case get beaten into submission in prison. I dont even care if that sounds harsh.

SPRINKLES - Thanks for that. Friggen Daily Mail. Trust me to believe them!!! It was 14 years. Im sure they delibrately made that 'mistake' because they knew it would set off their readers.
So apologies for the 14 months - but thats the Daily Mails fault, and mine for believing them!

I jsut can't stop weeping over this. I have a 17 month old son and I can't even imagine. I would literally kill somebody if they mess with my baby.
14 months is a joke. These ppl should be serving life without parole. I hope they get their a** beat in jail the same way they did that poor baby and maybe they will die (I'm sorry that I feel this way, but I have a baby and I can't imagine someone hurting him.

That has to be the worst I've heard lately about a child being tortured to death like that.
How could they do such an awful thing to anyone....let alone a small child. She being a mother herself, you'd think would have some compassion.
14 months or 14 years just isn't enough for what they did.......& the father, for allowing that to happen to his son.
I'm lost for words, because whatever the punishment, it isn't enough....it won't undo the harm inflicted.
I think people like that forfeit the right to continue waking up in the mornings even if it's just to hear the birds singing outside their prison cells.......It's not about revenge....it's about taking away the right to live of another human being......therefore, they lose the right also to live (they should do anyway)
On another point though, I thought it was interesting that the stepmother & father were convicted of the "causing or allowing" count. The causing in particular brought another case to mind……..one which we’re all too familiar with of late.

The Daily Mail got it wrong 14 years not months
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6929726.stm
If you don't trust the BBC, just put Sumaira Paeveen into Google and get other confirmation.
I have sent an email to the Daily Mail about the error.
Maximum 14 years still seems low, but that is because they were cleared of murder.

Even 14 years is nowhere near enough, it should be 14 years for each minute of pain that that darling little boy had to go through. Looking at her picture made me want to smash her face in. STOP THE WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF!!!!

I am sickened at this .. what misery this baby went through is unthinkable ..
where were social services???????
As for the judge ....14 months .. is that what a childs life is worth ??
I am repulsed at our criminal system .. poor baby .. let down by everyone ..
I believe the cons will be waiting and doors will be left unlocked ..
Justice will be served the cons way

I totally agree with you Dave. But 14 years is still not longer enough in prison. They should be sent to the lions den and eaten alive. I have no sympathy whatsoever for the beasts.

I hope some nice con kicks ultra f*ck out of the two of them, especially that wifie - for the next fourteen years. Apparently, cons hate things like this happening to children - so I don't give much for their chances, pair of bastards. Deserve everything that's coming to them - and more. Poor wee baby. Hope at least he gets DECENT parents out of this.
