It's sort of like a recital for actors. Usually there are a bunch of agents and CDs who are invited to attend, and the actors get up one-by-one and present a scene 'showcasing' their work.

It could also be a final presentation of the work done during a class. It's basically an informal performance.

like she said, showcases are someetimes given by talent agencies or acting schools. There is no other way to participate /

its ecactly what they said in the first to answers but stray away from showcases because the average one is a SCAM!SCAM!SCAM! so try going to open calls at agency's instead
