there usually is NOT a heater shut off valve under the hood. You will need to find the heater shut off by following the cable that goes from the heater control on the dashboard to the heater plenum (that's where the heater core is located).

Good luck.

Its probably on the supply line going to the heater core. It should be a simple looking valve. If you don't know what to look for then all you do is look on the fire wall on the passenger side of the engine compartment and you will see two hoses coming out of the fire wall. One is for supplying hot coolant to the heater core and the other is the return line going back to the radiator. I have always installed two valves, one for each hose, but I have seen just one also. I wouldn't touch the hose or valve without gloves on or unless the car has been sitting for awhile because the hose and valve could be very hot. Most engines run at about 190 degrees so be careful. Good luck.

Water control valve----just look under the hood at the heater hoses--it should be a vacuum-operated or cable-operated valve either inline one of the hoses or it screws into the intake manifold and one of the hoses attaches to it. You can bypass the valve and heater core temporarily if you run a piece of hose from where the two heater hoses attach to the engine----just unhook the two hoses at the engine and run a hose from one nipple to the other....they are usually two different sizes, like 5/8 and 3/4, so get a hose of the larger diameter long enough to reach from one nipple to the other and clamp real well.
