Fourteen year old girls should be as smart as they want to be, which I hope is as smart as they can be. However, some girls do not have the support from family to become smart. Some girls are not expected to be smart, some are not allowed to be smart, and some have parents and teachers who just don't care. If you are able to be an example to her, and you are able to influence her, perhaps you can be the one who finally shows her she can be smart.
How do I know this? A good friend of mine used to have a great deal of trouble making good decisions in his life. No matter how much he wanted to succeed, he just couldn't. He believed himself to be "too dumb" and too incapable to succeed. His decisions and surroundings kept him down all the time. It took well over ten years of our friendship to finally help him see what he was capable of. All through the difficult times, I kept being an example for him, and I kept helping him all I could. Now he stands on his own two feet and has a good paying job. He went back to school and discovered he has an incredible eye for photographic and computer art. He never knew he had that talent, and he's getting great marks from his instructors! On top of that, he has built up so much self-confidence, he found himself a really good (and smart) woman, and will be married next year. I'm not saying I get to take the credit for this, but sometimes people need others to hang in there with them, even through the muck and mire, so that finally one day, they can lift themselves out of it, once and for good!

I would say if she is passing school with at least a C average then she must be at a good IQ level for a 14 year old, but your right they playing dumb act gets old a 7. And if she is acting like she doesn't know what a funeral it almost says that she has no respect for the person who died. I think that it's ok to have your mom do your hair occasionally, but every day is to much, she should knkow how to use a straightner and curling iron, and how to put up a ponytail at that age.

First of all, as a mom of a 14 year old girl, if my daughter would allow me to do her hair I would be grateful this is something that I use to love to do and she has grown too old for. On the other hand if I had to do it all the time I might not find it so fun anymore. Sounds like the girl needs to grow up and become responsible for herself. It could be that her parents have sheltered her so much that she doesn't know what alot of things are. or if she is "playing dumb" she needs to stop, its time to grow up

Many 14 year olds are smarter than their Parents. Many of them are compared to those University Educated. Many can put their Parents to shame and perhaps be a better parent than their own Parents. Listenign to some of these 14 year old kids is like listening to a 40 year old College professor. Sometimes I forget they are Kids.

What's the point of asking that? It seems like you're just telling a story about a stupid girl you met, who happens to be 14. 14 year old girls are generally in the 8th grade, and since kindergarden they have been learning the same stuff, just each year a little harder. They usually have a good amount of common sense. If you're talking to this girl over the internet, and never met her, maybe she lied about her age. Or she's just been babied all her life. Don't blame her, blame the parents.

Jeez! That girl needs to either A, pay more attention in school or B, stop playing dumb and grow up. People who do that have no respect from me.
I am 14, and I think if a girl acts that way she definitely needs to grow up and try to be a little more independant.

That doesn't sound like a 'smart' issue. It is possible not to know what a funeral really is. She may never had to go to one. The thing about her hair, her mom is 'dumb' for doing it. You have to teach children responsibility at a young age.

At fourteen, most kids are still limited to whatever experiences their parents have allowed them. Some kids don't even have TV, so their knowledge is very limited. It doesn't mean they're not smart, just inexperienced.

So what if her mom still does her hair!?!?
I never chose to make fun of someone for not knowing something, sounds pretty childish if you ask me.
