My wife loves to wear thongs she is in her mid 40's and has a good figure.
She even sews different things on the back so other can see them.
I have gotten used to it but she seems to be getting more and more daring.
She makes sure her jeans are low and her thong is up high and her shirt short at the back.
I see other women showing them at times but nothing like my wife.

Ultra tacky...Especially since she is in her 40's, great figure or not. Is she starved for attention? Is she in need of an ego stroking? Has she just lost weight and wants to show off? I live in a big city, that is racially diverse, and aside from years ago, when briefly it was trendy(for YOUNGER women) to show a thong high on your hip, I never see women like this. There are so many other ways to look and feel feminine and sexy. If you have kids, they are probably horrified! I could understand your feelings.

It is not only tacky but it sounds like she is just asking for trouble. It does not matter how old your wife is she needs to have respect for herself and for you. I had a neighbor who wears a thong and she was at my home and when she bent over my husband and I could see the back of it. I did not appreciate it. Another time I saw her get out of her car and I could see her entire backside and she was in a dress that time. Trashy!

First of all, let me say that I don't feel there is a problem here. Just a lack of understanding on your part and hers.
Now, that said: It's a rush for her.
What you have to understand is that she's most likely getting some sort of sexual excitement from the attention.
I would ask what your sex life is like? Perhaps it's time to introduce some more daring and exciting activities.
As we get older, many of us want to continue to feel sexy.
As our hormones begin to fade away, we need more and more to give us the same pleasure. Like a drug addict. She's losing the hormone battle, so she's fighting it by giving herself a little boost. To be openly naughty, can give someone quite a thrill.
My advice:
#1 - without her knowledge of your intentions, persuade her to get a check up. Blood work and all... remember HORMONES.
#2 - take care to make her feel sexy, like a sexy beast!
She wants to feel like she is wanted and is naughty... so, give it to her. Take her to the movies and sit in the back row, have a go at her there. You get the point...
#3 - Be more adventuresome at home.
#4 - I've got to get back to work, so write to me if you want more ideas, but you get the point.
Most importantly TALK TO HER.

I can't think of anything more tacky. I have a fair enough figure but would never do that. I can think of other way's to show off what I have. But, sir I really am a believer in different strokes for different folks so what ever turns her on. If you like it and she loves it let her shine.

It is tacky because she is married. No matter how hot she might be. A thong shows by accident sometimes, that's ok... But when you are intentionally doing it, that is a bit ridiculous. She is obviously having some sort of mid-life crisis, or she may like the attention.

It appears your wife is trying to attract the wrong kind of attention. I think a woman can be sex and hot at forty without having to show her underware. Yes it's very tacky . I would venture to see she may have been a slut in her earlier years. She needs to get some class.

I think that it is tacky! I know that mine show sometimes accidentally because of the way the jeans are made, but I try to make sure they don't. My husband hates it! On me or any other woman, he thinks it's very tacky.

Whether or not it's tacky isn't going to make her stop doing it. She is seeking attention. Sexual attention. Try talking to her to see if there is some way you can satisfy this need for her. It's her issue though and it's unlikely you will be able to fill that void for her. There's something underlying this. Reassure her know that she's amazing and you'd love her even if she wasn't so hot.
