Sorry, laptop graphics cards cannot be updated.
The CPU might be upgradeable since they are socketed, but access is difficult.
If you want to boost your laptop speed (assuming a PC with Windows XP), this is the best thing you can do:
1. Backup all your data.
2. Format your hard drive to FAT32, not NTFS
3. Reinstall Windows XP
4. Load the latest videocard driver from the manufacturer.
5. While you're at it, flash it with the latest BIOS
I've done this many times for clients and there's at least a 50% speed boost. I'm not kidding. The effect is even more dramatic on older systems.
An XP Pentium 2-266MHz/256MB laptop which took 20 sec. to start MS Word now only takes 2 sec. after the mod.
FAT32 is a simpler, faster filesystem -- especially for critical Windows' swap files. If you want more security, put your data on a second NTFS partition. Reloading XP also clears out the registry of junk.
The program I use is Partition Magic.

BTW, adding memory does help. Windows XP's "sweet spot" is about 256MB. In my experience, adding extra memory only gives a 10% boost in speed max.

Unfortunately, and it would be great for you if I am wrong, I don't believe you can update the graphics card or system speed on your laptop. I guess it's possible you could upgrade the processor but laptops are generally completely proprietary, meaning everything is built to fit together in that particular model. Graphics is built in so you can't just pull the card out and put in a new one. You can probably update drivers to work a bit better but that's about it.
Wish there was better news, but I think the only option is to buy a new laptop if you want to improve.

Laptops are actually easier to upgrade. For the graphics, you need to buy a PCMCIA Graphics card at your local PC shop. The system speed can be increased by buying more ram or by using optimizing software like Tweak XP or turbo ram. If you do buy more ram, you need to buy SO-DIMM Modules. Find out what kind of ram you have too, if its a new computer, you'll need DDR2, older may need DDR or SDRAM.

The portraits card on laptops is frequently built-in with the motherboard. very few laptops ( like the Alienware laptops ), are designed with stand on my own portraits and audio enjoying cards which would be upgraded.
