You should go....IF you have family you trust to take care of your child as well as you would while your gone. I'm curious why you are not married and if you all are serious enough to be living together, why he's not stepping up and providing you the financial and mental security your looking for?

The military is not only a honorable job but a security you can't find in many jobs without a college degree. I admire your courage and ambition!

Good luck!

I am in the reserves and if you do it for the money then your doing it for the wrong reasons and your gonna hate every day your there. Think about it. Army reserves get deployed all the time. Yes your baby will have money when your gone, but not a mother. Women in the military are so promiscuous, if that doesn't bother you then sign up. It makes sense because for every women there are about fifty plus guys trying to get in your pants and they can't all be ugly. It will destroy your relationships and bring stress on your baby and you. There is no easy way to take care of a baby. Stay here and be a mother.

Join the reserves ONLY if you are willing to be deployed overseas repeatedly.
Many reserve units are sent to Afghanistan and Iraq more often than regular Army units.
Do yourself and your child a favor and get a better job by going back to school and in that way provide the things you think he will want . Your physical presence is far more important than any material thing in your baby's life.

NO! In case you haven't noticed we are at war. I am pro-military but you have a baby. Some many of our brave men and women are coming home in boxes. I understand the wanting to but right now it is not the best time. Go to school and get your degree. There is a lot of help out there. Work nights waitressing part time. You'll make good money and you can talk to people explaining your situation and wanting to help they will tip you well. Good luck!!

There should be other possibilites for you than the army reserves. If you can't make enough money except in that field then you should make up your mind how it will influence your family life and whether 1. it's the right thing for you five years from now and 2. what happens if you have to go overseas, e.g. for combat?

No. Go to school and get an education and a good job. Your baby needs you and you will be sent away for a long time for basic training and possibly off to a war. There are better ways to "become someone".

I was a military brat. My mother served in the Air Force for 20 years. It was the best thing she ever did for both of us. Sounds like your doing well by planning for the future.

You should go into the army reserve so you can get training localy and still be able to see and take care of your baby.
