Considering the number of things that 'people in general' believe in, without any evidence from their own senses or the observations of the wise, I think that believing in faeries does more good than harm to the world.

Personally I don't think there is a definite reason for why some don't. Some were taught that faeries were not real and just made up in children's stories. Other's seem to think that such a creature would be against God. Some may just think that logically it's not possible or that it's ludicrous. It really depends on how open minded the person is and what their background of belief is to be honest.
I myself have never seen one but I keep an open mind and neither deny nor believe of their existence.

Because they dont think it is possible for a human like being to be tiny and with wings. And they only believe in what they see but there are some animals that have only been sighted once or twice. Humans have reported sighting faeries, yet they believe in the other animal that was seen once because it seems more normal.

For the same reason they don't believe in Santa Claus
but imho, it doesn't hurt to believe in Santa's cause. . .
or fairies, for that matter
Myth satisfies a basic human need. It is inherent in the thinking process & can move us profoundly. Just look around you at the world today. When myth is believed as true, it is a powerful force.
Myth guides every person on the planet consciously or subconsciously, for good or for ill.
Faeries rule . . . mortals drool ;-)

Centuries ago many people actually did believe in faeries and other daimons. Now it seems to be ufos and aliens that people believe in. These are the "faeries" of the time we are now living in. Unless you consider the homosexual population. Lol.

because they believe that they look like the pretty pictures we have now that are popular. But thats not how they look some don't look human and some look scary but that doesn't mean their bad. Others are very dark and dangers they should be avoided. Most people are happy with not knowing because that means their view of the world and how we treat the world would have to change.

I need a little good evidence to believe in something.
Fairies are an invention of primitive and uneducated people to explain such things as the milk going sour, the hen not laying eggs, etc. We know why these things happen nowadays, so we don't make up fanciful beings to explain them.
