I have a 1996 Volvo 850.

The window goes down without a problem, but is very difficult to get back up. You have to sit there pressing the button for ~10 minutes before anything happens.

When you do press the switch, nothing happens at all. The motor doesn't make a noise.

Does this sound like it's a problem with the motor, the wiring, or the switch?

Remove the switch and jump the wires - that will tell you if the switch is the problem or not.
Remove the door panel and jump power directly to the window motor - that will tell you if the motor is good or not.
