A freind has a portable USB Hardrive with a bunch of music files on it that that used with their mac. If she brings it over, can she view these files on my Windows PC??
Will Windows read this HD at all? If not, how to I get it to read or can a portable HD that was first used on a mac not ever be able to be read on windows?

You may not have any problems reading it but to be safe carry a copy of macdrive just download the trial version if you have problems and install it onto your PC.you will be able to read all mac files. But i dont think it will be necessary.

Mp3 files can be read across platforms..you will leave a file on the drive after using it..just delete it when you plug it back into your mac

Enjoy
Good luck

It should. If the Mac has Mac OS X 10.2 or later, you should be fine (I think). If you have Windows XP or later it should just read it like a USB Flash Drive. I have both a Mac (OS X 10.2.8) and a Windows XP laptop, and I use my Flash Drive and iPod on both and they work fine. Hopefully you get the same result.

whe you set it up on the mac you need to format it as fat32
if you do that you can read and write it on both.

if it was formated as the mac format then you can buy a program called macdisk that will allow you to read the disk
