Although I am not a Cardinal fan, I would be glad for them. And I think it would be good for football to have a perennial doormat rise from the ashes.
Also, it would make the NFL think a little harder as to what they use for a neutral site. Right now it seems as only 12 cities are worthy of hosting this game.

If the Cardinals make the super bowl just about everyone to answer this question will look like an a5s.

But about the home field thing, I think the super bowl is enough of a glitter fest that no one on the Cardinals' team will even know they're home. And it's not as if all the ticket sales (or even the majority of the ticket sales) would go to Cardinal fans. How many Cardinal fans are there even? Like, 20,000 or something? They can't even fill their own stadium. And the only other advantage to playing at home is not having to travel, well, boo-hoo. One team will have to be in a plane or bus for a little longer than them. But that's true on different levels for every super bowl.

So to sum it up, the advantage they'd have is almost as small as their chances of getting there.

If they do make it, they will indeed be the first NFL team to play the Super Bowl in the home stadium. The sites of the Super Bowl is determined years before it is even played so it is just coincidence if anyone gets it. They may play in one of the weaker divisions, but who knows. Warner has been there before. Besides, it would be nice to see some new teams go to the Super bowl. But like everyone else is thinking, they would be lucky to win even the division, let alone the NFC championship.

It should continue to be done the way it is done. They pick the site YEARS in advance. If the team ends up with "home-field" advantage so be it. They bring in a SPECIAL FIELD just for the game. The tickets are sold evenly, about 10 go to each team's fans, all the rest go to the team and corporations.

Ahh the Super Bowl is such a spectacle that it wouldn't seem like a home game anyway. Besides there's always been some risk of that, with Miami getting so many bowls and Atlanta. So you want the criteria to be, warm weather (or dome) and city with team that has no chance to make the Super Bowl? Too complicated.

I agree that it would be wrong - but to tell the truth, when the Superbowl is in Dallas' new stadium, I PRAY that it will be a Cowboy/Texan Superbowl. Last year, (it was in Miami, right?) I was hoping da Boys would make it to the Superbowl and that the Dolphins wouldn't suck and the Cowboys would be the Fish in their own stadium. I think the Superbowl takes away from home field advantage a little bit, cause tickets don't only sell in the area of the game.

Has a team ever played a Superbowl in their own home field?

If my Cowboys can't make it I think it would be great. The Cowboys beat the Dolphins in the Super Bowl on the Dolphins home field (the Orange Bowl at the time).

For the last few years, I keep thinking "this is it - this is the year the cards pull out some wins and make a push to the playoffs" and yet, they always seem to disappoint.

But now, this is their year! (again!) With Matt Leinart tossing it to Boldin and Fitz, and an improved O-line - edge will have room to run.

Throw in the new coach, who will concentrate on running the ball, and taking pressure of the young QB, and cards fans will see more wins. Playoff? maybe - but it will be a wildcard.

I'll be pulling for them. Their offense is poised to be super-explosive and if the defense can succeed in stopping the run - they can make a push.

and G.W. Bush will get re-elected (CANT HAPPEN)

The closest any team was to home-field was when the Rams played in the 1980 Super Bowl at the Rose Bowl, I believe. The Niners also played one at Stanford stadium in 82?

That's the way the cookie crumbles. The site is usually picked to be the home of a team not expected to make it. No team has ever played at home...but it could happen.
