Yeah, it's definetley more comfortable than a pad. I reccomend Playtex Sport there great! Using a tampon for the first time can be kind of confusing so I also reccomend going to beinggirl.com for great tips and info on tampons and your period. Good luck girly!

Yes, but you don't have to wear a pad.

Put on a pantyliner instead.

The tampon will stay in place no matter how much jumping up and down you do. Your vaginal walls won't move, and they'll be tightly holding on to the tampon, even if gravity persists.

Also:

Tampons are all alike, sport brand or regular brand, they're all alike in appearance and use, except for the absorbency factor.
Don't go for the cheap brand like Longs/Target brands...go for playtex or kotex. Anything that's not a brand name can be dangerous, generic brands aren't made with the same high quality as the ones I mentioned. You don't want a tampon to shred or shed.

100%, you don't want a pad to flop out while you are playing!
Happened to me at 12..cheer leading tryouts, really was bad.my mom said I was to young to use tampons, but what I taught my girls, if you started, you CAN use a tampon..you will feel alot more secure. if you have problems inserting it try a contraceptive sponge..they work really well for swimming and long holding power!

I would. For extra security you can also use a liner. (no need to waste a pad)
