I don't know what you like to do in particular, but you could see if there's any local museums or art galleries. You don't have to be quiet in all of those places. That's really a myth. =) You could also look on-line with your local leisure services and see if there are any play groups or classes [in ours we have "Baby Signs Sign, Say & Play (0-36 months with Parent)" that meets once a week for an hour] that you could participate in. Or check at the hospital where you delivered because most hospitals have classes that extend after you deliver (like healthy start). Sometimes there are people that feel the exact way you do and you can start a play group of your own.
Hope this helps.

FIRST OF ALL GET A BABYSITTER, its great to have a baby but you need some YOU TIME...then it depends on what city you are in and how much you want to spend...movies, amusement parks, beach, nyc is always fun & exciting, set up a picnic in a park or a boat ride, get together with friends who have kids (make some new ones if yours r out of town i.e. YMCA's), or hit a club 4 dancing & drinks....there's a million things to do out there if you take advantage.

I fully understand your dilemma, I myself went through that. My suggestion would be to take the baby out during the coolest times possible, early morning walks, late evening walks, I know its buggy, but they have screening to put over the strollers, be sure to spray around the stroller or the entire stroller than put the baby on a cool sheet to protect his/her skin, and then put a screening around it, don't do plastic. Wear a hat, have the baby wear a hat is possible (it never worked for mine) and I noticed recently an umbrella can block alot of sun, you might feel foolish but it works. Good luck and try to get out because cabin fever leads to depression.

See if your local community center has any mommy-and-me type activities. If the baby will nap in the stroller, you can plan a trip to the library at baby's naptime so you can stroll around looking for books. Movie theaters usually have discount tickets for matinee showings.

Believe it or not, you could go to the movies to see a childrens show. That way you will be able to stay cool and if the baby starts to cry you would feel so bad, because most kids don't keep quite during a movie anyway.
Good Luck!

I go out to eat a lot, we visit her daddy at work, if your baby is good, you could go to a matinee movie, go shopping at Ross, Marshalls, Dollar General... If you have a Painted BY You that would be fun one day with an 8 month old you guys could do hand prints on a plate or something!

Do you have a zoo nearby that's indoors? That may be a good choice. It will cool inside and most babies and little kids love to see the animals.

Who need the help, mom or the baby. I think is mom. You should go out. Leave your baby with someone you really trust for few hours, and have some time for yourself. When you get back you will be more relax an happy to take care of your baby again.

I would go to the local swimming pool for sure- you will feel refreshed by putting your feet in the water while holding your baby and sweeping their feet across the water-and take a toy or 2-- make sure they have lots of sunscreen on - and maybe a little hat--they burn easily!! Have fun!

I used to wander the aisles at target.
Also whats the age, some city's park and rec's have indoor playgrounds. You could even pay a couple bucks to swim at an indoor Y.
