I was wondering if anybody knew of a good otc product for anxiety? I have been researching the internet as well as past questions on here and have come up w/either St. John's Wort or Valerian Root. The problem is, the research I have done on St John's is it is used more so for depression, which I do not have, and Valerian Root is used for insomnia, which I also don't have. I just have anxiety and get bad nerves. So I am worried if I take Valerian in the mornings, it is going to put me to sleep or make me tired, when really I just don't want to feel anxious. Does anyone have any experience with either? I have never taken, so I could be completely wrong? Or if not, do you know of any different otc medications that are just for anxiety? Thank you in advance!

The most popular things for general relaxation are Valerian, Chamomile, and Hops.... but some people actually wake up when they take these and are just very relaxed.

If you're looking more for sleep, there's Melatonin, L-Tryptophan, 5-HTP, Scullcap (an herb... it just sounds bad), L-Taurine, and Passionflower are all very popular to help people sleep naturally.

There are also some supplements that can help with stress and relaxation if you wanted natural help for that. There is St. John's Wart, SAMe, some B-Vitamins, GABA, Ashwagandha, and L-Theanine

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

xanax is really great for anxiety..but u can try to reprogram your mind against anxiety..
i sufferd for 8 years with it, and my docter keeped telling me to see a shrink.. i thought he was crazy.. but after so many years i finelly went and in 1 mounth my anxiety was down by 95%..
this is what you do for 21 days, 3x a day- its a mental excersie to train your brain to deal with anxiety..
this should not take more than 30 seconds to do..
close your eyes..
picture yourself in a desert and you see a giant sand storm coming..you have a backpack on with a small tent in it, you take out the tent set it up go inside and sit there you hear the storm going by the tent but you are safe in the tent , when the storm has passed- you unzip the tent and you are in a beautifull geen forest with a stream next to it , you go over to the stream look at the water, and then see the reflection of the moon in the water you look up and its night time you look at the moon ...( stop!! open your eyes) do this 3 to 4 x a day fo 28 days and you will say its a miricale i did..
any ? my email is bigbull@optonline.net

Don't look for relief in a pill.

Try yoga and meditation. They have been used for centuries to bring some peace and tranquility into peoples' lives.

Google that.

St. John's Wort mellows me out quite a bit. Doesn't really make me "happier." So you may want to give it a try and see what you think.
