Its on an 83 gmc pickup. The ground seems okay, same as the side that is working.

Dear Dave-

I would suggest checking all of the lights along that side of the pickup. If the resistance in the circuit is not correct the flasher will not work properly.

It could also be a problem with the socket the light bulb is plugging into, in which case you may need to replace the socket, or the entire lamp assembly depending on how they are sold.

Normally from GM the lens and backing plate that the socket is attached to is sold seperately, but I don't know if this is a standard GM truck bed, or if the vehicle has been equipped with a Step-Side, or a Flat Bed, in which case the entire lens assembly may need to be replaced in order to fix the socket.

The Step-Sides and Flat Beds were equipped with an Aftermarket type Lens and light.

Could also be a short to ground on the positive side of the circuit.

But my guess is the socket. Its a fairly simple fix, and the parts should be readily available at most parts stores.

Good Luck!
