They'll do better with some in the water - this can be as little as 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons, although they can live in full saltwater if acclimated slowly. Technically, mollies should be considered a brackish fish, but you also want to consider what tankmates the mollies have and their tolerance of salt. If you have just the mollies, you can add a teaspoon per gallon or more. The salt can be either regular (preferably non-iodized) salt or sea salt for them.

It is usually a good idea for mollies. 1-2 table spoons of rock salt are usually all you need. Mollies can handle much higher concentrations though.

People say they do but, mollies can live in full salt or full fresh. Just find out what they are kept in where you buy them.

No, they are fresh water fish. They are susceptible to fungus and Ick and that can be cured by using an isolation tank with some salt at the right concentration

It doesn't matter. They'll usually live longer in brackish water, though.
