You may recall, they tried to steal the 2000 Presidential election and then got very testy when they failed to bypass the Constitution. Now, they are stealing votes in Congress. Apparently, they changed the House rules to NOT allow keeping a bill open, then when Republicans won a vote, they opened the voting back up until they could get enough votes! Will Democrats EVER produce the ethical Congress they promised????????

Coragryph: Not so. The Republicans held bills open for great long periods of time. Even the Democrats apologized for this one.

Slapnut: Not true. What the Democrats passed was a ethic bill for Republicans. The bill enables the Speaker of the House and the Majority Leader in the Senate to make the decision about whether the "earmark" was properly publicized. The effect of that is Democrats keep doing what they have always done, but Republicans can't. I predict that will bite the Democrats in the end (pun intended).

bbbbrigs04: NO, Gore sued to manipulate the recounts. He wanted the IBEW to do the recount. Yeah, like a corrupt union wouldn't find that Gore got the most votes! The Supreme Court had to stop Gore. But in every recount made, Bush won. Every time. As a result, Bush is hated and loathed.

Guffeetax: The Republicans won and the Democrats reopened the bill and changed votes.
The Democrats are the ones that changed the House rules to prevent that. It is all in the article.

heichefheidi: The Democrats had a revote AFTER they got enough votes changed to pass the bill. The House rules are set by the Majority leaders and they set the rules to give themselves the most advantage as they see it. The Republicans did that as well. No problem with the rules change, but the Democrats violated their own rules. Basically, they screwed up and rather than take their lumps, they twisted some arms and revoted. Even the Democrats were embarrassed by it and it takes a LOT to embarrass a Democrat!

Henry VIII: Your argument is very disingenuous. You people try to violate the Constitution when ever it would serve your purpose and then accuse Bush of violating the Constitution.
NO WHERE in the Constitution does it say that the winner of the popular vote is the winner of the election. Just like your hatred for the Second Amendment and your twisted sick interpretation of the right to privacy into Abortion rights is typical of Democrats disdain for the rule of law.

Yes, they tried to steal the election by changing the way the votes were counted, anything to improve their vote count. They also promised to end the War in Iraq if elected, and caved in on the first challenge. We should never trust them again.

You have it backwards. Al Gore won the popular vote in 2000 and by the Secretary of the State of Florida, Bush's former campaign manger and his Governor Brother made sure George won the election. Then with a Supreme court made mostly of Reagan and Bush sr. appointees and a Congress of neocons who did not object Bush was handed the election on a silver platter. So do say Democrats are trying to steal elections. That is just more con lies. You guys should be pretty good at lying. You have had more practice than anyone else.

Love how you intentionally miss the point of the article. The procedural re-vote happens fairly often, no matter who is holding the gavel.

If you want to talk about stealing elections, you are looking in the wrong place. Most elections are stolen long before the ballots are cast: it's called gerrymandered congressional redistricting. (See Texas, 2003.)

You have a very amusing view of the facts -- the Democrats "attempt to steal" was demanding a full recount. Bush filed suit to PREVENT the recount.

And this incident in the House has happened about twice a year every year for the past century -- it's a common procedural squabble -- it just rarely gets much press attention.

The fall-back of being able to go fetch and pick up senile elderly people in buses, promising to take them to a casino after they vote for them doesn't work so well in Congress does it?

Despite winning that tally, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., moved for a revote as permitted under the rules and Democrats prevailed again.

How exactly did the republicans win?
