Give him plenty of water it will clear up on it's own. After every milk bottle you should give him a couple of ounces of plain water to clean his mouth and tongue. I hope it works. This is very common in new born he will grow out of it as his body become accustomed to the milk.

I got oral thrush last year and all I can say is OUCH. It can go away by itself but shame on your doctor for making the baby suffer in the meantime. You need an anti fungal treatment from the doctor. Thrush will spread and as it spreads down the throat it will become very painful. Adults can gargle with yougart drinks but at 2 months old the babies diet probably should not consist of yougart yet. You can try patting small amounts of yougart into the babies mouth or get some relief for the baby by rinseing the mouth with a diluted solution of 3 per cent hydrogen peroxide. Call the doctor back and let him know that that is what you are doing so that he can advise you on any special circumstances when you shouldn't.

Babies require a good doctor’s advice but I do know that thrush thrives on carbs so reduce his juice intake and any other sweets he might be consuming. Also try giving him organic acidophilus milk instead of regular milk. Thrush is just an imbalance of our friendly flora (to much bad bacteria and not enough good). Too many antibiotics can cause thrush so only use them when needed. Good Luck!

Thrush is a form of a yeast infection which must be treated by an antifungal. The doctor can prescribe an oral medication. I would NOT recommend creating your own remedy for this. I thought my daughter had it too for a while, but it went away on it's own. If you're really concerned take him in to the doctor for a prescription. 2week old children are too young to be playing doctor on.

You can put a LITTLE bit of plain yogurt with the active culture lable on cotton swab and wipe his tongue with it. If he is breastfeed there tongues do turn white naturally it isn't always thrush so I would take him in to be sure, but your doc is probably right. If it doesn't act like it bothers him then it probably not thrush. It will also effect you eventually if you are breastfeeding so keep an eye out for sore nipples and such.

thrush is a yeast in the mouth. it is uncomfortable and usually found on the insides of the lips, cheeks and on the gums as well. often infants/children that had antibiotic treatment will get thrush (somthing to do with the ph balace in the mouth, or the lowered immunity in general...)

trouble is, its contagious. and if you nurse, you could get a yeast infection in the nipple or breast (ouch). the best treatment that worked for me was diflucon. often nyastatin will work too.

it is recommend that when treating a nursing baby, to treat the mother just-in-case, because otherwise it can ping-pong between the mother and baby.... and it can take forever to get rid of

her dr gave my daughter a rx but when it wasn't working he told me to use something called Gentian Violet. Ask the pharmacist for it. Sometime they have to special order it. It worked for my daughter. I would take a q tip and rub the stuff all over her tounge until it was deep purple. I would do it twice a day. It stains big time so be careful what you use it around! Your dr needs to give you a script for it. I would not try the home remedies yet.

if he has thrush, chances are you have thrush as well. You'll know it- there's no mistaking it. Also, most babies have a diaper rash associated with thrush. Thrush is also not on their tongue, but on their cheeks. If you are really concerned, I would take your baby into his ped. since the best cure is prescription only.

Try gentian violet. Dip a q-tip in the gentian violet and swab the inside of the baby's mouth. Gentian violet is a little messy and can stain fabrics but it helped my daughter when we both were battling thrush. Are you breastfeeding or bottle feeding?

When my son was little he got it also. The doctor prescribed some purple looking medicine that you give them but it didn't work. I gave it to him for two weeks. My sister told me to use Buttermilk. Use a dropper, fill it up, and coat his mouth twice a day with it. My sons was gone in 3 days.

Good luck!

You typed it twice as thrust. So if you're doing internet searches on it, probably not finding much info. Try thrush.

With ours, we always had to get a nystantin prescription to clear it up, then remember to dry your bras on hot. I also went on probiotics as you can also eat lots of yogurt as its a yeast infection. (the bra thing and what you eat matter if you are nursing)
