when your equation log base 3 x=-2 is in this form, you just raise the base to the number on the other side of the equation to get what x equals:

3 ^ (-2) = x
1 / (3^2) = x
1 / 9 = x

Hi.
Let´s say you have the following log:
log 100 = 2; This is 10 base log and 100 is the answer and 2 is the exponent of 10 to get the answer.
Similarly with your problem, -2 is the exponent so this is 3 in the power -2 = 1/9
Hope this helped.
