Depends on your definition of a witch. If you are talking about Wicca, it is traditionally an initiatory path. You would need to study with and be initiated into a coven. For solitaires this can be a problem because many covens don't want to recognize someone self-initiated. While you may be born into a Wiccan household, you are not automatically Wiccan. Just like being born into a Christian family does not automatically make you a Christian - you still have to go through the steps (baptism, communion, etc).

Being a witch isn't something that any quiz can tell you. Some people become one others are born with it. Its a matter of discovering who you are. Some believe that it can be hereditary. Witch is someone who is wise and respectful and thoughtful. Someone that has true beauty on the inside. Someone who wants good for all of there surroundings. Someone who is gifted in healing or divination or spell work. That's what a true witch is.

Casting spells doesn't just make someone a witch! There is more to it than that. Much more. The true witches are born witches. That doesn't mean we are all equal in any way, but for many of us it is just hereditary. My Mom use to tell me stories of ghosts and premonitions, and beliefs that ran in her family. She would tell me not to run around telling everyone, because not everyone else understood. Now I understand all that she told me. Ive seen ghosts, or spirits and sense things at times before they happen and also have dreams of my loved ones that have passed, and I believe I'm truly with them, its more of an astral dream. I believe in totem animals and my Mom had showed me things that other people wouldn't believe unless they saw it. I'm in tune with the earth, and I love animals. Its just an inherited thing that you have, not something that you can one day just up and create and become. I don't necessarily consider myself Wiccan, but I do believe many things they believe, and the more you read about witches the more you learn that the real ones, are not bad or evil, just in tuned with the earth and the supernatural.

You could always try the melting method. You could also burn her. Just kidding.
The most common natural Witch talent is having dreams that foretell the future. Another common natural Witch talent is being naturally accurate with runes, tarot, or other divination.

Hmmm I agree with that last answer, but A witch has more then one meaning, thus more then one defination, now if your talking the Hocus Pocus, Pagan/Wiccan witches, then yes there are two ways of being one, by birth and being taught to be one, or from your own choice, where you take a league or a zillion years, to learn anything and everything from the magical and natural sides of life, and as for the other defination, it falls from the Snow White movie version, old hunch backed, backstabbing and very cruel. A witch is a very hard thing to tel if you are one, I as I am a male,. but of the Pagan religion consider myself a Witch as in the proper form as its a religious title.

Entirely by study and practice. If you believe along similar lines and practice often then you are a witch. Generally speaking if you don't know, if you have to ask, then you are not, at least not yet.

Go outside, stand under a tree and close your eyes. What do you feel? Do you feel the whispering of the wind? Do you feel the powerful presence of the tree? If you answered yes, then you are in tune with the earth. What you do with that skill is up to you, May the Goddess bless you along your path.
Blessed Be.

You're a witch if you practice magic.
It's not like Harry Potter, anyone can do it.

Generally, if you subscribe to the beliefs of "witches" (by which I assume you mean Wiccans) then you are a witch. As one's status as a witch is a matter of belief (not "innate" religious abilities), if you have to ask then you aren't.

A witch is someone who works witchcraft. Do you do that? If you don't, you're not a witch. It's that simple. It's a choice, not a birthright.
