I'd dread a surgeon the most, the dentist i can deal with...i know i don't have to be put to sleep so i'm gonna survive the dentist trip, when i have to go to a surgeon which i've never had to, i'd dread it, i'd hate having to be put to sleep and never knowing if i'll wake up or if there will be complications...

Hard call:
Seeing the dentist doesn't mean you have a life threatening situation. But every dentist I've ever seen (except for one who believed me) never used enough Novocaine thinking I was a 'baby'. Halfway through, I could feel the pain developing while drilling.
Seeing the surgeon may mean a serious condition and then of course you also run the risk of anesthesia. But at least you're "out" and don't know any better.
So, my choice is Surgeon -- just wake me up when it's all over!!

Definitely Dentist - when he's doing his work. It HURTS.
At least the surgeon knocks you out - although it does hurt AFTER!
Sometimes I think they hurt equally as much no matter what the procedure. Only exception would be the open heart surgery - BIG bummer.
