I am only 6 weeks but my hhusband asked me last night if I was ok because I was breathing so heavy. And I noticed it today was well. What do you think?

And I am not overweight -- (ok maybe a little but not obese and did not have this issue before getting pregnant).

Ive never had thyroid issues, I dont FEEL like I am breathing heavy and have no problem catching my breath. I live in NYC and they did mention today that the air quality was extremely bad today -- it is also like 95 degrees.

So early it's a bit strange, but I would talk to your doctor.

As you progress in the pregnancy, you'll find that the pressure the baby puts on your lungs and the extra oxygen requirement of the baby WILL make you breath heavier. However, if you aren't doing ANYTHING and having trouble breathing, you need to talk to your doctor ASAP.

It can be very normal. Is the baby grows and develops you use up to 50% more oxygen and blood.
You will find you will go periods where you are ok and breathing is normal and then days when it is hard. You will really notice this later when the baby is pushed up into your ribs. (real fun =p)
Try different positions of sitting (don't scrunch down) and when sleeping try sleeping on your left it makes it easier to breath and increased the blood flow.
If you are having a very hard time breathing and are almost at panic mode. I would talk to your doctor about an inhalor in case you need one to help open up the lungs.
If it gets bothersom or really hard to breath

Have you had any preg bloodwork done?

Be sure to tell your doc. have you ever had thyroid problems?

Where do you live? Is there an ozone alert there? Bad air quality affects pregnant women a little more.

You are probably fine, but I was very short of breath in my first pregnancy, and I miscarried that week.

Heavy breathing could be nothing, but it also means a lot of other things, too.

I think that is normal during pregnancy. Of course if you feel like you are having trouble breathing see your doctor. Both times when I was pregnant, it seemed like I got out of breath easier. It just takes a lot of energy to carry the baby.

I had the same problem when I was pregnent especially when I would lay down it felt like it was hard to breath..its because the baby is pushing against everything and unfortnalty will get worse as the baby gets bigger...best of luck though...and congrats!

Yes I do. Especially after I walk all the way through the parking lot and then up the stairs when I get to work. That is the worse time for me

During my entire pregnancy, I felt short of breath. Ask your doctor just to make sure though.

Yep. And you'll breathe even heavier before you're done with pregnancy. Things are getting squished in there, and your heart is working harder.

I have noticed that! I used to do it from time to time before I was pregnant, but it has gotten much worse since I've started showing.
