I am lokking for a laptop for college and I don't know exactly where to start. I a have a dell desktop, but I don't like dell beacuse of bad customer service. I will like something that is easy to use and something where everything is already included. I will most like use it for entertainment uses but, I will also need it for surfing the web and essays and stuff.

A Mac is what you need.

HP for desktops and Toshiba/IBM for laptops. DON'T EVER BUY DELL'S they're good for like 1-2 weeks and then they crap out and dell laptops are sometimes missing outer parts. Gateway has horrible tech support. and if you want it for entertainment / surfing the web and essays just go for a mac. They're tech support is great and in about 2-3 months they'll have a new version for mac which can load into mac as well as windows if you have the disc. and you can buy a mac now and upgrade it later. there is no compatibiliity issues with upgrading mac unlike vista where half of XP's software and hardware wont work with it. But Mac is quite expensive. And if you dont want to wait for the dual loading machine you can download "boot camp beta" which allows you to run XP, Vista, And mac (choose between one of the windows operating system)

I believe HP is one of the most complete computers available, still it is expensive. Dell is quite good in price and quality but it is not 'really' good. Sony is somethig very trendy and have excellent displays. IBM has a very powerful and resistant model, but not very fancy. Toshiba is quite the same as IBM but lack of durability. Compack have very good prices, but I can't tell the same about quality. LG have good looking and affordable laps, but not very strong or durable. Gateway is somehow like Dell. And recently I discovered that Siemens (Fujitsu) makes computers, and they are really good in price, durability and capabilities, but not as fancy as the HP or Sony.

So I think it is a matter of choice and look around for the most suitable, since there is no 'perfect' computer.

Ive had quite a few computers, but I shop by price, not brand--almost all pcs have either intel or AMD processors inside, and most of the inner parts are made by a few large companies. Basically they all work about the same--make sure you maintain them by cleaning your hard drive, defrag it once a month, and use an antivirus program.

I hate to keep sounding like a broken record, but check out www.apple.com, their education store. You can get an entry level MacBook (top rated in Consumer Reports for battery life and tech support) for $999 and you get a free iPod Nano. And you won't be battling, worrying about or be stressed by viruses or malware.

Toshiba is the best computer brand. You should get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092 for college.
