That's about as funny as if 'Typical Conservative' had asked "Help! I have been spending beyond my means for years and now I'm 6 million dollars in debt. Which candidate will create a government program to pay it off for me so I don't have to sell my beach house?"

I don't support paying able-bodied people to not work. I don't support paying off debts run up through personal stupidity. I don't support paying the debts of every third-world dictator. I don't support covering the mortgages of people who bought more house than they can afford.

The role of government is to protect people from one another, not to protect people from the consequences of their own greed, stupidity, or laziness.

And I'm a Democrat.

Actually, your handle is incorrect.

Liberals oppose socialists. You should call yourself "Typical Socialist" or "Socialist Democrat".

But, to answer your question -- yes, the federal govt has welfare programs -- see the appropriate federal laws.

And hurry, before those of us who oppose such govt-mandated charity get around to eliminating them.

If you have a real question and it isn't biased one way or another, feel free to ask it. Otherwise, don't bother.
