My husband and I are looking to move to New Zealand several years. All I seem to read is positive but what are the bad things about the country?

New Zealand is a most beautiful contry. My father and I visit one time and have fun all the time. People there are very nice. It is so pretty not like my country, it has lotz of treez, it is so green.

Any place has bad thingz too, but I didn't have bad time there all time I waz there.

You are lucky to move, we can not move. Most countryz dont want us right now. but someday I move, I see more world.

New Zealand has its drawbacks, of course. Some of them drive me crazy, but when I remember the other places I've lived in, I realize these things aren't all that daunting. It's easy to get carried away when there's nothing else to worry about.

Here's my list of NZ niggles:

Considering how precarious the roads are around here, drivers display an amount of self-confidence that is at times nothing short of infuriating. I've got kids in Subarus exploding down my residential street at speeds I wouldn't dare attempting on divided motorways.

Oh, by the way: Those barely exist here. Be prepared for lots of single-lane driving with tailgaters who just don't understand what on earth you're being so cautious about. Those are the same folks who will run off the road at insane speeds at night and drown themselves in the bay in their Legacy. Happens all the time.

Although Kiwis are startlingly nice people, you do get the odd super-dork. Breathe deep, seek peace nevertheless. They'll pass.

Houses are a mess. Have fun buying some old treasure with heaps of "original features", lots of demons lurking everywhere (plumbing, foundations... what's "heating" anyway?).

Take it easy when you start your job here. Kiwi work culture is all about building accord and harmony. If you're from the UK or US, you'll need tranquilizers for the first year, as you won't ever just go and solve a problem. It takes 42.5 committees first.

OK. All done. Honestly - it's ridiculous, isn't it? None of these things are real problems when you compare to the rest of the world. This is a great place, and you'll enjoy being here.

See you soon.
