My son was born at 24 weeks and 1 day. He was 1lb 7oz and 12 3/4 long. My water broke in my sleep and I went into labor, they held me off for a week and then I had him. He was in the NICU for 4 months but now I have a healthy 18 month old. They never knew why I delivered so early my first pregnancy but my second pregnancy they found I have short cervix/ incompetant cervix and put a stitch in. I loved the care my son got in the NICY from the nurses and doctors and I believe that is what saved him.

I had my first son at 31 weeks.... he was 4lbs 7oz and 17in..... He had apnea and a few other problems! I had a torn placenta that turned into a detached placenta! SCARY...... He spent 1 month and 12 days in the NICU and came home on Ozone and an apnea monitor! As well as about 6 differnet medicanes. He is now 3 years old today and healthy as could be! With my second everything went fine and I am expecting a third and hope for the best!

I was lucky to keep my baby in until 37 wks, but I started with preterm labor at 26wks. It started from a "silent" urinary tract infection. I dilated enough that my uterus was "irritable" so I was on meds and complete bedrest for 3 mo.

My friend had hers at 24wks. She woke up in the middle of the night in pain and 15 min later, she had her baby! Scary stuff but the baby is 1 yr old and perfectly normal. They don't know what happened.

Another friend had a preemie because of hypertension and some other health problems of the mother. I believe the mother was induced? The baby is not quite right.

I had my daughter at 24 wks gestation, and she was 1 lb 10 ozs. She was born this early because of an infection I had in my amniotic fluid. She is now 2 1/2 yrs old, and doing wonderfully!

I also was told I have an incompetent cervix. I just had my son, who's 10 days old, and carried him to 41 weeks. I had a stitch put in, and it worked!

That 24 week is the magic week for survival ...

I had one at 22.5 weeks... she weighed 14.8 ounces and was 11 inches. She lived for an hour.

I have an incompetent cervix, basically my cervix can't hold in a 1lb baby and all the fluid.

With a cerclage, which is a stitch they put in your cervix like a drawstring, I have another daughter who was born only 2 weeks early and was over 7lbs.

I had a preemie 6 weeks early.. I had preterm labor..
they said it might have been due to me working as a server, on my feet for 40-50 hours a week..
they joked around and said, "I know we said that to progress labor, that you need to walk, but not THAT much."
