My son is 2 months (on July 26th) and was premature...though I doubt that matter except he has a month delay from it for milestones so they say.

Usually by 6 months all babies can sleep 10-12 hours through the night. Some can before, like at 3-4 months.

when it is full up enough not to wake from hunger; when it is relaxed enough to sleep for a long time without waking from being overtired; when it is secure enough to settle themselves if woken and not need comforting... the list is endless!

My first slept through a bit at 4 months, but then woke again when hungry, then slept through a bit when I began solids... then slept through a bit only to begin night waking again when her first cold came... I guess it's only since she's been 2 that Ican prtty much guarantee I won't have to go to her or hear her.

But now I have a 5 month old - she is breastfed whereas my first was bottle fed so I am still up twice at night for feeds. She *has* slept through twice, but seems far off from repeating that!

Depends on your definition of sleeping through the night. The doctors considered 6 hrs sleeping through the night, so by their definition, my son slept through the night from 1 week old.

He is 4 mo old now and sleeps 10 - 12 hrs at night.

it was around 5-6 weeks for my daughter. it was weird, it seemed like it happened over night. we've kept her at a pretty good routine so we get about 7 to 8 hours of sleep. after that long stretch of sleep she will still fall asleep after her feeding for another 4 hours. her feedings are closer together during the day so it makes up for the night. she is now 8 1/2 weeks old.

i've been told by my future sister-in-law that i'm a lucky one but that it won't last long. hopefully she is wrong.

I have heard of babies sleeping through the night the first night home and my son didn't sleep though the night until he was over a year old. Every child is different.

Not to depress you, but my oldest did not sleep all night until 18 months LOL ! It just depends on what time you put them down as well. Most can sleep 6-8 hours by 6 months, some as early as 2 months, just depends on you little one.

That really depends on your method of feeding. Bottlefed babies sleep through the night sooner because the formula takes longer to digest, making them fuller for a longer period of time.

My exclusively breastfed babies both slept through the night at 7 1/2 months.

You'll get a million different answers to this question. Everyone is different. My 1st was about 5 mos. I have a friend with a baby that just started sleeping through at 9 mos (yikes!).

Good Luck!
