I ask this because it seems like a lot of things going on now have been part of our ancient history...and we not only have not learned lessons from the past, but now it seen neanderthal like behavior and policies and attitudes are becoming more the rule than exception.

Watch the movie Idiocracy, it's funny but sad. It will answer this question.

No. Evolution doesn't run in reverse. What can happen, though, is that traits can be lost over time that were once adaptive, but are now less important. For instance, with modern medicine, people can have children in spite of genetic defects that make them infertile. That's not actually 'thwarting' or 'reversing' evolution, it's just a change in the environment that makes a formerly negative trait more nuetral.

Similarly, humanity's penchant for ignoring history is not a new thing, it's an aspect of human nature that has so far remained in spite of any evolutionary pressure that might exist to limit it. Perhaps it's because the impulse to ignore the negative lessons history - hope - is actually an adaptive trait?

No. You are not as familiar with our history as you might think.

Take the present battle in the Middle East against Islamic literalists.

We actively, for the first war in history, are avoiding ALL civilians in fighting whenever possible.

When has ANY country done that?

We have actively helped, even taken the lead in rebuilding their country.

What county has done that in the past?

We have taken refuges (thousands of them) from a country we just finished fighting.

What country in history does that?

Your "Neanderthals" live in the past, still, and we have evolved far beyond them.

However, we seem to be fighting some close relatives of the Neanderthals, if that's what you mean.

First, there is no such thing as "de-evolving"I do see where the libs haven't learned from the past.Ready to repeat the horrible cycle again, after only 30 or so years. An unpopular war, political scandal,a peacenik, hippie, age of aquarius, wannabe "enlightened"movement, resulting in the election of Dem.Jimmy Carter, who proceeded to utterly destroy this country.Luckily defeated in a landslide after only one term by a sensible, conservative president.Yes,they haven't learned from the past.

go back about 40-50 years and look at the problems in school and then look today, look at the crime then and the crime today, the spiral is downward and the blame from the so called educated experts is always society or upbringing but never blame the person. yes we are going backward and the bad is beginning to be the accepted. there seems to be no way back to a sensible society where right is right and wrong is wrong because of this situational ethics which says if it feels good then it is right

That's a nonsense question. There is no such thing as de-evolving. Evolution is a process of change, any change, not progress toward any particular goal. Given that, the only possibilities are evolving or remaining static.

No. Dont let today's conservative cult mind control throw you off.

Its about the Baby Boomers. They want everything, and since they found out they cant have it the bitterness has manifested in the NeoCons.

But time is running out for their failed schemes.
Its not ALL bad!
