My almost 10 month old use to poop what we called "colorful rocks." They were almost the size and consistancy of an adult poop and was either green or yellow tinted depending on what he ate. Now, instantly, his poop is a very runny yellow and smells to high heaven!!! The only change we've made in his diet is adding some Gerber 3rd foods that are a lil chunkier. Any thoughts on why this is happening? The family was sick for a day (24 hour flu thing) but it's been a while now, and he still poops Dijonaise!

Maybe your baby is dehyrdrated. Since the food is chunkier it has less liguid so its depriving the child of the liguid. Try giving him more fluids. Also, maybe the chunkier food you gave him doesnt sit well with his stomach. you know just like adults if they eat something to heavy like a new york style hot dog, or a spicy exotic food they`re stomachs act weird? Well, maybe your baby just has a sensitive stomach. Nothing to worry about.

I heard that something dietary did that sort of thing. I just cant remember what. Call the Doc let him know whats up. He can prob tell you over the phone. Anyway, my 2 yr old a while back had YEllow horrid diarhea like that for 1 day shy of two weeks and the nurse told me they could do nothing for it and wouldnt see him until he hit the 2 week mark!!!! unbelievable but it went away written off as a bug that took a little longer to get rid of.

It's most likely the change in food. It will probably be that way for a while. I wouldn't worry too much about it. As long as he is not dehydrated and otherwise healthy it's probably going to be a bit stinky in your home for a while.

Is he teething? I've had some parents tell me when their kid is teething, those diapers could knock a buzzard off a manure truck a mile away!

Otherwise, it's possibly just a normal varation in reaction to different foods.

Have you started him on milk or yogurt? That tends to change their stools. What about formula change or breastmilk--have you eaten anything unusual? The chunkies in the 3rd foods might could do it--his body is having to digest things a little differently!!

...just give him plenty of fluids and keep checking for fever since you mentioned that your family was sick. I would disinfect the baby's things cause germs from the flu could still be around.

well i would stop the new food because if he is allergic to it that might be the problem. If you go back to the same foods you used to feed him and it doesn't change in a week call your doctor.

Oddly enough I have been looking for some 'colorful rocks' to put in my fish tank. So if he starts pooping the colors of the rainbow again please let me know. As for the french mustard coming out of his butt...I couldn't tell you.
