After all, it was mostly these "peace-lovers" that voted for Bush and still rattle the sabers in support of militancy, is it not?

The Pope already berated Bush about the War.

It is a sad irony that many of the "good" Christians voted for Bush based on the principle of saving life (i.e., abortion).

However, there have been a great deal of those same Christian groups that have come out against the Iraq War and call for an immediate end.

Be careful who you vote for, folks.

The exemption of church property from taxation is based on a concept of separation of church and state that many conservatives don’t agree with anyhow. Property held by all religions would be taxed. The tax exemption is based on court interpretations of First Amendment language and interpretations can be revisited.

Yes, all churches should be taxed the same as anyone else in this country. I'm sick of seeing the preacher living in a palace and driving around in a hummer. Tax at a lower percent if you like but they all should be taxed.

Not unless you're prepared to tax synagogues, mosques, the Church of Scientology...

... remember, the whole premise of our Constitution and the Bill of Rights was to prevent a legal national religion and to prevent government from being discriminatory in its dealings with religious organizations.

That's what was around in Europe. We don't need or want that here.

How about taxing all Liberal Colleges and Institutions to fund mega social programs, for they produce the majority that are in-line for Socialized Health Care and other Nanny State programs.... only make sense if we can pose lopsided ideology.

Any church that overtly engages in political activity or openly supports a political candidate or cause over another would most likely get their tax-exempt status revoked.

I would not have a problem with this but we would have to tax EVERY religion... personally, I think there is nothing wrong with exempting churches (of any kind) from taxes either.
