It is what you want, isn't it? If he asks, say yes. If he doesn't . . . you ask him. You've gotta go for what you want in life.

Well, if you like this person then you should say yes to him if he asks you to the Prom or Homecoming this year. This could be the start of a serious relationship.

If you would like to become his girlfriend, you will need to continue showing interest in him. Do this directly and not through his sister. Choosing his sister as a go between was a smart move to begin with, but now he knows, so the rest is up to you and him. Be sure to talk with him and ask him questions about himself and what he likes. Spend time with him. If he is eager to be your boyfriend, he will do likewise, and he will respond very well to your attentions. Going by what you've written above, your prospects with him look good! I think you're going to do fine!

Keep showing him that you like him. Guys need so much encouragement to ask a girl to a dance. Don't overdo it though, you don't want to play hard to get! Be yourself as well; don't change too much! Just keep being really, really good friends and stuff will work out.
I'm not saying that he doesn't like you, but have some sort of a cushion to fall back on. If he doesn't like you, be prepared to just be friends.

If you like him. Accept the prom. Ask him to get a drink at starbucks or something... Get to know him more! Eventually, you will get more confident being together w/ him.
