I would vote to stay in the European Union if only because of the trade and most definitely a big fat NO to being the 51st state of America.Could you imagine being run by the US president.

The trouble with your choices are,
we already have one foot in each camp,
we are like a wishbone, I'm sure both camps have there merits,
but the truth is we stood up for ourselves but are now not strong enough to defend ourselves against these oil rich nations, that I'm sure pose as big a threat as Russia or china ever did. I would reluctantly lean towards the USA because,
even though they were late for both world wars they still helped us through them, although it took 50 years to pay of the national debt. they stayed out of the Falklands but we stayed out of Vietnam

no to uncle satan (u.s.of europe
as for uncle sam being a 51st state is a bit out dated, we would have to join the north american allience, which is a situation of allies like we are now, or like the e.u. this would be worth considering but total independance would be better.

I'd vote no on both accounts. I think the EU is a good thing - the UK needs allies, and far better to be allied with our neighbours than with America.
