remove each taillight and look online for the wiring diagram for them. take a light tester and connect it so that when you say turn on a blinker or hit your brakes you can find the right wire for your vehicle the harness for the tow bar should have come with a wiring diagram so that you can connect the wires to the right one on your vehicle. thats how i did it when i placed one on.

The way it is hooked up will have to match the towing vehicle.
You will have to cut into the wiring harness on the towed vehicle.
Or make a long lead to go from the towing vehicle receptacle to the towed vehicle receptacle (if so equipped)
If both vehicles have the same system on turn signal/brake lights it will be an easy hook up.
If one has single purpose bulbs & the other has muti purpose bulbs it may get a little complicated. An adapter will have to be used.
All the pins won't have to be used because you don't have electric brakes on the towed vehicle.
You'll need a pin for ground, tail lights, left turn, right turn
Optional will be reverse light.
If you have single purpose bulb system you will need a pin dedicated for brake lights.
So you'll need 4 to 6 pins
Good luck

This is not a job for a beginner ! If you have a "Bulb Failure " warning system you will be asking for REAL trouble by not doing the job properly. You would be better off taking it to a trailer specialist and getting them to do it. I don`t know where you are, but in this area (East Kent) there a loads. EG; Broadstairs Trailers, they did mine for only £30 including several relays !
