Tough call... I think Mailer was more innovative, and more a force in the literary world.. but I am going to have to go with Hunter, because, at least for me, and many others, his work seemed more approachable, and I was able to connect with his works moreso than with Mailer's works..

Also, I liked how he idolized Hemingway and drank like a fish...
