One of my crabs, Kat, used to be extremely social and get along with my other crab, Herc. They are both females, and now Kat has been trying to attack Herc for no reason at all. Herc already lost a limb, and I don't want that to happen again. I am trying to understand the sudden aggression with Kat, but I just don't understand it when she used to be the gentlest of the two. Help!

It could be one of the crabs is about to shed. Some of my crabs had frightening personality changes after they shed. The other thing is: if Herc is about to shed, then Kat might be trying to eat him (they do so to molting crabs)

I had a crab named Mladen that lived with tons of other crabs at the place we bought him from. Got him home and he killed the four other crabs in his tank. (they were all smaller than him) I bought a crab slightly larger than him but didn't put them in the same tank. When I put them on the floor to run around Mladen would try to attack the other crab (even though it could easily overpower him)

Some crabs just have to be separated for the sake of all the crabs.

do no longer problem. He basically needs time to get well fom his moulting state. My hermit crab, Hermo basically completely recovered from his "moulting temper". He grew to become into particularly mellow and inactive yet now he seems much less "comfortable" and returned to his previous self and his character is outstandingly amazing.

are you providing natural foods i.e. fruits, veggies, meats?

usually crabs only fight over shells, however I have had a bully or 2 in my tank and the way I ended it was by putting the aggressor in timeout overnight in my isolation tank. He hasn't fought with anyone since

I would add more hermit crabs. In the wild, they live in VERY large groups. When you only have two, there is a constant struggle for dominance.

She is most likely in premolt, do her eyes look dull? Make sure you have deep substrate for her to bury herself into :) I'm sorry but half the stuff that everybody has written is a lie.

It may be time for it to need a bigger shell. do you leave various size empty shells in their container for them to switch too? Also. it may be a food problem, do you feed them enough?
