This will depend somewhat on the filtration. Also, if you're keeping both males and females, they'll probably breed in the tank.

If you're keeping only males, you can probably get away with 8-12 with good maintenance. If you're getting males and females, get at least 2-3 females for every male in the tank. You can start with 1 male and 2-3 females, or up to 2 males and 5-6 females. And don't count on the adults eating all thee fry - mine don't - so your population may increase in a month (or sooner). If you haven't cycled your tank, only get 3 fish to start, and please read the link below:

Don't listen to the 1 inch per 1 gallon rule. An approximate method of calculating how many inches of fish you can have is by multiplying the length times the width and dividing by 12. With a standard 10 gallon tank, that's about 16 inches (20 X 10 divided by 12). Connsidering that each guppy gets 2 inches, you can have 8 guppies in there.

As many as you can care for. I started with 3 guppies and now have 5 tanks full. I use 10s for grow out. I have at max 50 fry, female, male guppies in each 10 gal. tank. I do water changes 2x week and have no problems as far as dying fish go and if they are crowded they don't seem to mind. A life is better than no life at all? ><>:)~

The general rule for freshwater fish is about 1 inch of fish per gallon of tank. If your guppies are approx 1 inch when full grown, then you should be able to put 10 guppies in your 10 gallon tank.

I have asked that question before, and my answer was about 15 males max, and you would have to have good filtration, probably like a filter meant for a 15-20 gallon or a 10 gallon undergravel filter combined with a 10 gallon power filter. The reason to only to get males is so you won't get any baby guppies.
Hope This Helps!!!
Personally though, 13 males would probably stay healthier as opposed to 15.

I say 4-5 because they reproduce easily and usually ignore their babies. Meaning they probally wont eat them unless you have them in a tank with other fish.

P.S. And feed them as crushed up as you can get the flakes and make sure you feed them once a day or the parents will eat the babies
