It is a scam. He/she is trying to get you to send money for a ticket that never will be bought.

He/She cannot get a visa to the US without first proving to the US embassy (1) that one has sufficient funds to buy a return ticket and support one-self during the stay in the US or that there is a US-based sponsor that vouches to guaranty covering the visitor's expenses (2) that there is a reason for one to go (e.g., letter of invitation, admission to college)

SCAM! The first give away is the E-Mail address. It hins at a person called Monica Wood. This sounds like a British name. Nigerians usually have names like Obahoboanoman etc. Second give away is also in the E-Mail address. The numbers 22333 mean that there are bucket loads of Yahoo accounts that have been set up in that name (probably 99.99% in Nigeria). Next give away, most Nigerian scams start with a disaster in the family, this is to obtain sympathy. It's highly likely that either you will be asked for money for flights etc. and never hear from (him) again. If you are not asked for money, you will be invited to Nigeria and robbed when you get there.

you should be very careful.do you know her?? and think she's gonna be you responsability if she doesn't go back you'll have to support her. if she has a visa Request her to send you a copy of it by e-mail. but for god's sake don't send her any penny or worst your credit card number. some bank accounts are being robbed by fake credit issued in other countries.
and about the story she told you, only god knows what the truth is...
