I am trying to find a site for free assistance designing projects, mostly in photoshop. I have the basics down, but sometimes I get stuck halfway through something and it would be nice to get assistance, and get out of trouble.

Just enter photoshop forum in google. Specialist forums are the greatest places to find out things and meet like minded people.
You could also join other photoshop users in yahoo Groups.
