NYC - She wrote "Bairns" and she means it. It is the Scottish vernacular for small children

Sweets are not just for bairns, and coming from Scotland you should know that. Scotland has the highest per capita intake of sweets (candys if you must) in the world.

Personally I have a weakness for Tunnocks Tea Cakes and Wagon Wheels. But I cant get them now I live in the USA and have to get them brought over every time someone comes to visit

Certainly not. Everyone knows I love sweets and it works well. If people I know see an old fashioned sweet shop, they always get me a couple of quarters of lemon sherberts or cough candy twists. Cola cubes are one of my favourites, but the list goes on and on. I've just added to it, since I was a kid !

YUM! Tom Thumb Drops, Soor Plooms, Blacks and Rasps, Sherbet Straws, Rhubarb and Custard, Sweet Peanuts and all the rest. I can still get a lot of these sweets in a local shop in Killie.

NYB-BIGCAT bairns is the Scottish word for little ones, children. so apologise.

When nostaglia sweeps over me I head for the humbugs still sold at a local shop, or Nuttalls mintoes. Love blackjacks and licquorice whirls with the aniseed jelly in the middle.

No. Just been back to Uk for a holiday and bought a big bag of cop cops. Also bought cola cubes and pear drops.
Got them back to Spain and it has been so hot they have all stuck together as the sugar has melted.
Doh

I still love Alphabet sweets. And I still find myself spelling out my name with the letters. You're never too old for sweets.
