I have been having back "labor" for some time now. My back starts hurting and it stops. But now I am having tummy contractions that really dot hurt. (I have a real high pain level 2 ribs cracked for 2 weeks with no meds) It doesnt feel nice. I was just wondering if any women went into labor with out having "painfull" contractions? I know I am over 1cm and the baby's head is "down".

My contractions with both of my kids did not actually hurt until after my water broke.
Before that it felt like someone was lightly squeezing my stomach, but it wasnt painful....but I was in labor and didnt know it.
Time them just to be sure. More than 4 an hour for 2hrs straight you should call your dr.

With my first baby, I had started having contractions on Thanksgiving night, just over a month before I had him. It didn't really hurt until I was dialated to about a six, and they got more severe, and moved to my stomach... I was then in active labor. That's when I got to realize that contractions really DO hurt. Until I was in active labor, they didn't hurt much at all, and just became a dull ache. Having a high pain tolerance, you may be able to stand the "heavy" contractions a whole lot easier than some women, and probably have an easier time in labor. Every woman is different, along with every baby. I do know this, though... I am more than certain you will be able to tell the difference between the contractions you are feeling now, and the more productive ones. They'll get closer together, last longer, and be more intense. If you have a high enough pain tolerance, you may not think that even these hurt, but I'm sure you will be able to tell the difference.

Hope this helps.

I had severe back labor, and w/back labor thats all i felt. The pain in my back was 10 times worse than the contractions I felt all over.

Some people say their contractions aren't "that" bad...but speaking from personal opinion....you'll see. My contractions were the worst pain in all of my life. I could barely stand it.

Well how far along are you? It sounds like you're probably at least 37 if you're posting this. I'd watch those contractions, time them and call your doctor. If you're ever unsure, you should just go in.

sorry, ride the tide, at least you can get a spinal and avoid the "curse" of labor (mostly) when you get more dilated (>2cm)
