Emily and Kayleigh (kaylee) are very common names latey and are super popular.
I personally like them but I would go with something else.
Samantha is very pretty!
Our daughter's name was going to be Kaylee until I saw Aliya and fell in love with it.
Our next daughter will be named Brianna or Taylor.

My daughter's name is Caroline Grace (we call her Gracie though). We didn't want anything too different. Our son has a family name (Rudolph Otto) so we wanted something as traditional. I love the name Emily, but if its the dogs name then that may not be the best idea. I like Kayleigh, but you're right there are way too many K names right now. Samantha is a good name though. I'm just not into the different names. Some of the names that celebs use are just too out there for me. Like someone else said why would you want Dr. Cookie Smith? Or President Apple Smith?? come on, give her a name you love and that she can love as an adult. Good luck to you both!! Congrats on the baby!!

I think you should cross Emily off the list its a nice name but she may not like having the same name as a dog, Kayleigh is a very nice name but you would have to cope with the many spellings of that name, Samantha is nice she could be Sam or Sammy or just Samantha. Good luck with your decision!

I like Samantha. We have 2 daughters and went through the same ordeal. We finally came to an agreement on Faith and Bridget. (3 years and 1 year old). We wanted names that were pretty and that not every other kid had like the K names you mentioned. Also, these names sound nice for an adult, so when (high hopes here) they become doctors or lawyers, they don't have to go by something like "Dr. Cookie Smith".
I do like Emily too, but I think I'd hold off if it was someone close's dog's name too!
Good luck with the naming!

Emily and Kayleigh are nice names but are becoming quite popular. there are many girls in my school with those names so i wouldn't use those. I like Samantha but I don't like Sam or Sami for a girl, so it depends on your tastes. Some names that i like are
Sophia Amelia
Liliana Grace
Lydia Nicole (this is my favorite)
Alexa Rose
Brianna Taylor
I hope these names help if not, check around with family members and on websites.

I know a few Emily's, and a few Kayleigh's... and I like both of those names. My suggestion is pick a name, and yell that name.... like you were getting after them for doing something wrong... if it sounds good, go with it... :)
I also like what someone said about just waiting until you see her. The perfect name will come to mind, and that will be it!

Maybe try mixing up the letters and make a new spelling of the name? Like Emilee or Kaylee... you know? Just an idea.. the names you like are just common names but that doesn't really matter.. Samantha is way common though.. she would definately not be the only one in her class at school. Good luck.. i know it's hard.

Emily is pretty, but I wouldn't go with it if it's your mother-in-law's dog's name. If you really like it, you could go with Emma or Emerson or something similiar to Emily but not.
Kayleigh is pretty, but I like the spelling Caleigh better (it's uncommon but still pretty).
Samantha is nice and you could nickname your child Sam or Sammy.
My favorite out of the names is Caleigh, but the others are good, too.

I have to make a change in my answer after reading Sar-Bear's Answer: "pick a name and yell the name out loud, to see how it sounds. "
If you do that with "Emily" then the dog will come ... and that wouldn't be great. !!!
So maybe Emily isn't the best pick, sorry about my earlier answer -- see below
[Choose Emily if you like it -- the dog will be gone some day so why not use what you like for your daughter's name]
